| VALUES |
| |
There are several values
close to the heart of God around which groups will thrive. We're
focused on four “brush strokes” (values) to be painted in the
picture of small group life.
|
| |
CONNECTION |
(Romans 12:13, I Peter 4:9,
Hebrews 10:25, Galatians 3:28, Colossians 3:11, Philippians 2,
John 17:23, Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 4:1-4)
God created us to be connected in
meaningful, Christ-centered relationships. However, in our
crowded and busy suburban lives, such connections do not come as
easy as one might think. Additionally, in God’s kingdom
hospitality is to be practiced faithfully, which means to love
strangers. CMBC small groups are to provide a consistent place
of hospitality to connect people with each other and God. |
| |
GRACE |
(Ephesians 2:8-13, Romans 6,
James 4:6)
God makes it clear we are
forgiven and brought back into relationship with Him by grace
through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Grace also brings the
renewing power to live a life pleasing to God. Grace that flows
to us from God must also flow through us to others. Where grace
flows between God’s people, an inviting example of Christ is in
view for all. CMBC small groups should be places where God’s
grace flows between people. |
| |
TRANSFORMATION |
(2 Corinthians 3:17-1 8,
Galatians 3:1-5, Ephesians 4:20-24, Philippians 1:6, 2:12-13,
Romans 6-8) God is
transforming our character to be more like Him. In short, we are
all in a beautiful process of redemption together. God’s
transformation through his Spirit brings freedom and safety to
be “real” with each other about who we are, and look forward to
who we are becoming. We find true direction and affirmation of
God’s work in us by devoting ourselves to learning from God’s
Word, listening to his Spirit, and prayer. CMBC small groups
should be places where the beauty of God’s transforming work in
the lives of people is affirmed and celebrated. |
| |
IMPACT |
(Matthew 22:37-40; Hebrews 10:24;
Romans 12:1-8, Ephesians 2:10,4, 1 Corinthians 12, John 13,
17:23)
God’s love must find expression
in our obedience and good stewardship of the gifts he has given
us. CMBC small groups should be places where we mobilize and
steward what God has given us to impact our realm of influence!
