THE RIVER FELLOWSHIP |
What is The River Fellowship?
An activity group at CMBC built around the common interests of
faith and fly fishing. It is part of the Small Group Ministry of
the church and is also connected to Men’s Ministry.
What is the purpose? The
River Fellowship is a place where men can connect with other men
in the church, build relationships, share knowledge, develop
skills, swap fishing stories, share life experiences, grow
spiritually, and fish together. Additionally, the group can be a
welcoming point for new or less-connected men in the church, and
be an avenue to invite others who share this interest.
What will a typical meeting be
like? While our interest fly fishing initially brings us
together, our faith in Jesus holds us together. Therefore we’ll
do a variety of things that incorporate faith and fly fishing
such as: fish some of Oregon’s rivers, have a fly-tying class,
hear from guest experts about casting, reading water, fishing
for steelhead, etc. We’ll spend time in the Word and share our
faith journeys. In addition, we’ll do a service project
together.
Who is invited to be a part of
this group? Men who love to fly fish, whether experienced or
a beginner may participate. Later on we may offer something for
those who have never fished with “feather and hackle” but for
now you should at least own a fly rod. We will help each other
and learn from one another.
When will the group meet?
We will meet every other Thursday from 7:30-9:00 p.m. in G305
(balcony room above the Chapel). What should I do if I’m interested or would
like to know more? Contact
Pete if you are interested in being a part of this group.
