INTRODUCTION:

The paradox of Christ:  Mighty and great….but lowly and humble

 

 

I.  Jesus Christ was LOWLY

 

            A.  His arrival

 

 

 

            B.  His obscure life

 

 

 

            C.  His ministry

 

 

 

            D.  His words

 

 

 

            E.  His constant submission to the Father

 

 

 

            F.  His deliberate determination and choice of the cross

 

 


II.  How do you do that today?

 

            A.  Refuse the lie of independence and self-sufficiency.

 

 

            B.  See ourselves clearly for who we are

– worshipping servants.

 

 

            C.  We must continue to resist the flesh.

 

 

            D.  We must develop an inner heart and submission to God

in everything.

 

 

            E.  Refuse to love things and the position of power.

 

 

            F.  Deliberately choose to humble self in relationships.

 

 

III.  The Lowliness of Jesus is the best way to live.

 

            A.  Our greatest burden is ourself.

 

 

            B.  Lowliness in Christ frees us to see our need to be changed.

 

 

            C.  Lowliness is the root of every other virtue or quality.

 

 

CONCLUSION:  Matthew 18:1-4 – become as a child; humble yourself before God.
