Men,
How
recognizable is your voice?
Just
this week I came home from the office, stepped
through the front door, said hello, and from a
hidden part of the house, three of my grandchildren
came running, arms outstretched, yelling, "Grandpa,
Grandpa." That is one of life's sweetest moments; to
know someone recognizes your voice and then comes
running to share affection. You hopefully have
people in your life like that too. People who you
can call, and without identifying yourself, they
know your voice and let you know they are pleased to
hear from you.
I
wonder today, if you are hearing the voice of a
certain shepherd who also loves to hear from you.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and
they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they
shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my
hand. (John 10:27-28)
As
sweet as it is to hear my grandchildren recognize my
voice, the voice I most want to hear calling my name
is that of the Good Shepherd. When I run to him,
there is an eternal promise of love, hope and
protection. Plus, it will never be removed.
Like Dr. Hinson once said, “the Lord takes you and
puts you into the Father’s hand, and then He covers
you with His other hand. How are you going to get
out?”
That
makes my heart sing. That makes my soul relax. That
makes my future secure.
Maybe
you need a dose of security today. Know this. When
we put our trust in the Savior, He takes on the
responsibility of keeping us forever. Now that’s a
loving shepherd.
Aren’t you glad you know his voice?

Looking forward to being with you in the Prayer Room
on Sunday at 10:35 a.m. It is one of the high points
of my week.
