Men here are a
couple of books I’ve read lately that have challenged me and been good
reads.
Why Men Hate Going
to Church
By David Murrow
Gives a lot of insight into why men struggle with wanting to set foot
into a church building these days. A good read and a compelling
argument for why church services either need to be more man oriented
or else why our outreach needs to be focused more outside the church
walls.
Samson and the
Pirate Monks:
Calling Men to Authentic Brotherhood
By Nate Larkin
Sounds like a boys adventure novel, but this is a cut to the core
honest book about the authors struggle with a personal battle with
sexual impurity and how the Lord brought him out of it and into a
refreshing gathering of men who shared deeply and honestly with each
other.
Larkin has
established a men’s ministry called the Samson Society, based on the
belief that too many men see the biblical hero Samson as their manhood
model, yet he was a solitary figure who eventually was overcome by
moral weakness. The Samson Society creates an environment that I think
most men crave.
